Dutch Jazz Poster

Poster Design

Dutch Jazz / Jazz Holandés is a poster design project developed in 2012 for a concert held at Luz de Gas, a well-known live music venue in Barcelona.

The event featured a Dutch jazz quartet composed of Ruud Jacobs on double bass, Peter Beets on piano, Gijs Dijkhuizen on percussion, and Camino Quiroga as lead singer. Together, they brought a contemporary yet deeply rooted jazz sound to the Barcelona audience.

I was commissioned to design a single concert poster to promote the event. The visual concept is built entirely around typography, using repeated letterforms to construct a rhythmic, almost sculptural composition that echoes the improvisation, pulse and layering inherent to jazz music. Reduced to a limited color palette and driven by a strong typographic gesture, the poster balances impact and restraint.

Typography, composition and contrast were used to ensure clarity within the urban context of music promotion, while allowing the poster to exist as an independent graphic object beyond its promotional function.

This project forms part of my ongoing exploration of typography as image, where letterforms are not only carriers of information but expressive elements capable of conveying sound, movement and atmosphere, translating musical identity into a strong visual presence.
