Mishka was born in Bermuda and raised throughout the Caribbean, shaping a musical identity deeply rooted in island culture, travel and the sea. A sailor and free spirit at heart, Mishka’s music reflects the landscapes, rhythms and values in which he grew up. Caribbean at its core, his sound remains eclectic, moving fluidly between bass-heavy roots reggae, acoustic ballads, and songs that speak of love, social justice and consciousness.
With more than 16 years of touring and recording, Mishka has experienced the music industry from multiple perspectives. From London to Los Angeles, he has worked with both major and independent labels, and his music has been featured in film and television soundtracks worldwide. To date, he has released six full-length albums, several of which have charted internationally, including three #1 releases on Billboard’s Reggae chart. Mishka continues to tour extensively, performing solo and with his band across North America, Europe, Hawaii and Japan, in venues ranging from intimate clubs to major festivals.
When Mishka first contacted me in 2017, I encountered a songwriter of rare sincerity—a modern troubadour, expressing emotion with honesty and restraint. His lyrics feel inseparable from his identity; his soul resonates through his words with the same clarity as the ocean that has long connected us both.
Our collaboration grew naturally from a shared love for the ocean, leading to visual explorations through water-based photography created in collaboration with Franck Berthuot. Later, the work of Rosie Matheson allowed us to reveal a more intimate and grounded portrait of the artist, shifting the focus toward the person behind the music.
Throughout this collaboration, I have consistently advocated for a sincere, honest and unembellished representation of Mishka—one that reflects the man as he is, without artifice. The visual language developed around his work seeks to support the music rather than overshadow it, creating a coherent expression where image, sound and identity remain deeply aligned.
